Failed my Financial Accounting midterm. Just got it back today, man it feels like donkey doo-doo when your looking at your test and ask around, “Yo, that exam was a bitch eh?” and you get the, “nah it was okay, wasn’t too bad,” and the “yeah it was hard, but I did alright”.

Damn you. What really pisses me off is that there was a practice midterm I didn’t know about. I took a look at it today and it was the exact same format of the final. Man, if I knew about the practice midterm I don’t think I would’ve sucked donkey dick as bad as I did. (Actually technically, I got 51% which SHOULD have been a pass but my class was curved like J-Lo).

Time to pick myself up and rape the final in the ass (I will be wearing butt-plug to the exam so it doesn’t rape me instead).

Last Christmas (I think Christmas 06′) I had the dilemma of every person that was looking on the handheld market for a new portable console, the DS or the PSP? After deciding to go with the DSLite, I felt I made a mistake, and before even opening it, I quickly went to Wal-Mart and returned it to buy a PSP. I regretted that decision within a week.However, soon after discovering homebrew – I felt a little better, the PSP’s library offered me nothing I was interested in, but it was cool to be able to play Final Fantasy Tactics and VII on the go. The novelty wore off and I realized I’d rather just play them on a TV and Playstation. I looked into getting some SNES games on their but maybe I was/am a complete n00b because the SNES games ran buggy as hell.

Fast forward to a couple of days ago. I bought a DSLite (again), with it I got Super Mario 64 DS and Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow. I can’t put the damn thing down – it’s just plain fun. I don’t know why, but Nintendo seems to have the magic formula for handheld systems. The games aren’t super epic, just something I can pick up on the fly and have a lot of entertaining, time killing goodness that the PSP just didn’t seem to offer. I’m sure this whole rant is cliche by now though.

Anyways, never second doubt yourself (never should’ve made that trip back to Wally-world).
PS. Notice how shiny and new looking the PSP is after a year…

After deciding that I’d rather not take the risk with the Incase sleeve for my Macbook because of the potential black stains, I sold that POS. Yes, piece of shit, for such an expensive neoprene sleeve to stain (sometimes permanent I’ve heard) something it was SUPPOSED to keep marks off of. And yes, I emphasize marks because honestly the sleeve doesn’t offer much impact protection, if I ever got punched in the back(pack) my Macbook would take a heavy load. So basically, the Incase sleeve is only meant to preserve the Macbook’s cosmetic virginess, but it’s like a filthy pedophile babysitter who rapes your children instead of protecting them (with stains).

Okay anyways, now that we got my dissatisfaction with Incase out of the way (who’s customer service never emails me back, who’s Iphone case also scratches the the hell out of the phone…..) I ordered a Booq Vyper XS2. Couldn’t be more happy! No stains, nice tough look, better impact protection than just neoprene, very nice. Only gripe is that it COULD be a little thicker in terms of padding (the website makes the sleeve/case look a little thicker than it actually is, so beware if you’re hoping that you can toss your Macbook down a mountain with this thing on).

Went to English Bay with the girlfriend, nice place.

It was odd actually, there was a bunch of half-nude dudes making a dance video or something in front of the inukshuk statue thingy. They thought they were pretty badass making a music video with their shirts off, but they looked pretty ridiculous to me (I ain’t salty).

Lower back pain is perhaps one of the worst known to mankind. I swear it’s second to only getting your testicles popped. I haven’t updated in a long minute now but it’s because I couldn’t type with the pain in my back (nah actually I was just a lazy bastard). How it happened…it started with an awkward landing while I was hoopin’ and went up for a dunk (..layup). It really tweaked my knee. Being the gym zealot I am, I didn’t want to take any time off. Seriously people, I think this might be a disorder – some people just don’t know when to throw the gloves in. Instead of resting and icing the knee, I decided I could still lift in the gym. I was deadlifting the same weight as before my injury (245 X 5-6ish, nothing to brag about but heavy for a 155 lb cat like me).

I’m not arrogant, but I know I usually dead with immaculate form, I’ve even received compliments about my form from trainers and really buff dudes in the gym. But deadlifting with a knee injury (or any kind of leg injury) is stupid as I’ve learned. Anyways, because my knee was giving my pain, when I deadlifted that week, my form was probably very shitty. Most of the weight was burdened onto my poor back. After back day, without question my back felt sketchy as hell (not painful, but just kinda weird). The next two week I continued to deadlift (as well as squat). My back has gotten from uncomfortable to sharp pains. Well, now I can’t really jump (basketball) and can’t life (working out).

I mean its pretty depressing, especially because before the injury, I was in probably the best shape I’ve ever been. I decided to go to physio to get my back checked out. It was an old guy (nothing wrong with old people, just old people who refuse to gain new knowledge) who pretty much asked me why the hell I was deadlifting and squatting as if those two exercises were the equivalent of doing crack in the gym. This fellow Danny thought I should just stick to doing leg presses, “as that will utilize the same muscles”. After explaining to him about the balance required and the impact of doing complex exercises such as the dead and squat on your core and central nervous system – he replied that I had no much growing (height wise) left.?! What the fuck did that have to do with anything I just told you.

Anyways, he cracked my back and asked me to come back next week to go on his “shuttle” where he will show me how to become the “ultimate leaper” (did I mention for just 45$?)Needless to say, I’m making an appointment with a MD instead. Overall this whole experience has showed me that I definitely need to know when to give up and call it quits because as I’m typing this I’m still dreading the rest week (or two) that I’m going to have to endure to allow the back to get back.

no good barbers in vancouver

This is really starting to piss me off. When I was in the states, good and cheap barbers were a dime a dozen. I could go in, get my hair cut and lined up very nice for 10$ and that includes the tip already! If I want to get a decent haircut, I need to shell out around 40-50$ in Vancouver. Especially if you’re an Asian male with thick hair, it’s a bitch because you pretty much have to go to a high-end “Asian” salon to get a decent cut. If you go to a budget white person place or even an expensive one, most of the time the barber has no clue how to cut Asian hair and you are fucked. Considering the huge Asian population in Vancouver there has to be some cheap and decent quality barber shops?PS, when I say an Asian salon, I don’t mean the ones that give you the “anime haircut”:

I’m just talking about a place that knows how to deal with thick, course hair and can give me a 3 or 4 all around and line up my hairline for me. Is that too much to ask?

macbook air keyboards

Why did they decide to make the keyboards of the Macbook Air a different color? I know it resembles the old Ti Powerbooks but holy fuck is it ever tacky!? It actually takes away from the form, if they were going for a thin state of the art notebook, I think a keyboard that matched the rest of the laptop would have done a much better job in giving a sleek appearance. That thing looks like a Dell. I guess the fact that you can’t replace the batteries yourself doesn’t make me very excited either. I’m actually pretty pleased, if they did fulfill my desire for a 12″ Macbook Pro, I might’ve had to put in effort to try to attain one of those bad boys.

Why are universities so strict about languages? Maybe it’s only SFU, but the Chinese teacher has the 100 class on lockdown. Perhaps its the large percentage of Chinese cats in Vancouver, I dunno, but he pretty much boots out any kid who is Chinese. There were a handful of ABCs (American born Chinese) that registered for the class that got the boot. What the hell, just because their parents are Chinese doesn’t mean they can speak it themselves (and I know for a fact that those people could not write). It doesn’t make any sense why they would have to register for a 200 level class because they have a “background” in Chinese. I can see the merit of such a system to weed out anyone who is just taking the class for easy credits, but where do you draw the line? How does the teacher know that the student won’t be completely bogged in a 200 class?There’s plenty of cats in my 165 CMPT HTML class that probably know more about coding than the prof, why don’t they get weeded out too…

If you’re ever in Vancouver BC, and you want one kickass bowl of ramen – check out Motomachi Shokudo, very tasty ramen with organic meats. The pork melts in your mouth and there are a variety of broths to choose from. Be sure to try their eggs as well, they are really something, however don’t eat too many of them or you’re guaranteed to crap your pants later (the eggs not the ramen).
